 Controversial plans to boost party electoral funding have been put on hold, the coalition appears to be walking away from the taxpayer increase in the wake of a big vote of back lash. The government has now decided to delay introducing that bill into parliaments.

 
Eddie Mcguire says he'll consider standing aside as Collingwood president in the wake of his remarks about Sydney Swans star Adam Goodes. Mcguire suggested Goodes could be used to promote the musical King Kong. He's apologized for the on-air gaffe and concedes the comments do amount to racial vilification.
 
Police are appealing for witnesses to a fiery road crash that's killed on person north of Brisbane. Police said the car hit a guard rail at highspeed before crashing down an embankment and bursting into flames at North Lakes. One person was incinerated, five other people in the car left the scene and now are being questioned by police.
 
An Australian man charged with terrorism offences in Saudi Arabia has been jailed for four and a half years. Shayden Thorne has been detained in that country since 2011. The twenty-five-year-old claims he confessed because he was tortured.
 
And there are reports this morning the second-in-command of the Pakistani Taliban has been killed in a suspected U.S. drone strike. The death of Waliur Rehman is yet to be confirmed, Pakistani officials say missiles hit a house in the northwest of the country.
