The latest Fairfax&Nielsen poll shows Labor's primary vote has slipped another three percentage points to 29 percent.Support for the prime minister is at its lowest level now in a year. The poll also shows a return to Kevin Rudd as leader would wipe out most of the Coalition's lead. It comes as Mps return to Canberra for that final sitting fortnight before the election. Victoria's education minister isn't ruled out signing up to the Commonwealth's Gonski reforms, despite a stoush over the funding model.
The Commonwealth has released a school-by-school breakdown of just how much public schools in Victoria stand to gain. The Victorian government claims almost 250 schools would be worse off under that plan.
The latest Climate Commission report is warning global emissions will need to start falling by the end of the decade to avoid dangerous temperature rises. It says the amount of greenhouse gas in the atmosphere is at its highest level in more than a million years.
South Africa's President Jacob Zuma says Nelson Mandela's health is continuing to improve.Mr Zuma was speaking at a rally to mark the 1976 uprising against apartheid. Mr Mandela remains in intensive care. recovering from a lung infection.
And the consumer watchdog says Australians lost more than 90 million dollars to financial scams last year. The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission is warning that may be just the tip of the iceberg. It's found online shopping scams have jumped 65 per cent. |
