Our business editor Peter Ryan says his main priority now will be to recruit a new board.

 

"Ah, the head hunters would have already been working pretty hard or they... or they'll be go in overdrive.  Ah, you would mention that the members of this board need to be in place as soon as possible or named as soon as possible, so the review can get underway. And Mr. Turnbull said yesterday this,..this board owns the inquriy and they oversees the inquiry. Ah, Mr. Turnbull doesn't want to see external consultants brought in to provide...ah, a..a.... a solution to...to the NBN problem, but he wants.... he wants the board to own decent drives and... and as he said earlier , reduce its speed and deliver the facts.”

And Wall Street closed lower for the fourth day in a row with the Dow shedding 67 points.The Nasdaq and the S&P 500 were flat. In London overnight, the FTSE ended 14 points lower.

 

To commodity prices.

 

West Texas Crude is trading at 103 U.S. dollars a barrel. Tapis Crude's at 114 U.S. dollars a barrel. And gold is worth 1323 U.S. dollars an ounce. 

 

The Australian dollar is buying 94 U.S. cents, 70 Euro cents and 59 pence sterling.
