英国巴西宣布定期举行经济对话(在线收听

LONDON, April 9 (Xinhua) -- Following a meeting in Brazil, British Chancellor of Exchequer George Osborne and Brazilian Finance Minister Guido Mantega announced regular economic and financial dialogue between the two countries, according to the British government's website on Wednesday.

Dialogue between one of the world's major emerging markets and one of the world's advanced economies will strengthen mutual cooperation and boost trade and investment, the statement said.
"The dialogue will provide a channel for ongoing contract between the two governments with regular meetings of finance ministers. This will ensure that we exploit opportunities to strengthen trade links, share expertise, and facilitate infrastructure investment," the announcement noted.
During his trip in Brazil, Osborne said Britain had "mistakenly" overlooked Brazil's potential in recent years, added that increasing trade relations with Brazil and the rest of South America was "a priority."
The finance minister also unveiled plans for a new Rolls-Royce marine facility, worth 22 million pounds (36.8 million U.S. dollars) in Rio de Janeiro.
He also announced a 4 million pounds UK trade and investment cash injection for mid-size business advisors, as well as a 2 million pounds investment in expanding links with Latin America.
Osborne is the first British finance minister to travel to Brazil in 17 years. The British government aims for British companies to double exports to 1 trillion pounds by 2020.
Only 1 percent of Britain's exports went to Brazil in 2013, official data showed. However, mutual trade between the two countries has grown by 50 percent in four years. (1 pound = 1.67 U.S. dollars)
