Chinese vessel on site to relocate objects spotted in MH370 search
Chinese patrol ship Haixun 01 reached its target area late Friday night to relocate objects spotted earlier in the day by airborne searchers for missing Malaysia Airlines Flight MH370.
Due to poor visibility at night, no major sightings were reported, but a few light-colored, palm-size floating objects.
The Chinese vessel moved into the designated patch of the southern Indian Ocean after the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) asked it to relocate the objects a New Zealand aircraft spotted in Friday's search.
 
China, Germany establish comprehensive strategic partnership
Chinese President Xi Jinping has met in Berlin with his German counterpart, Joachim Gauck, for discussions on bilateral ties and issues of common concern.

China urges calm after Ukraine resolution abstention
China hs renewed its call for all parties to avoid acts that could intensify conflicts in Ukraine.
Speaking in the wake of China's abstention over the UN General Assembly resolution on the Ukraine crisis, Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei said, "China upholds fairness and objectiveness on the Ukraine issue."
He said all parties should avoid antagonism and complicating the situation and make efforts to create a favorable environment for a political solution.
"China proposes to set up an international coordinating mechanism composed of relevant parties to discuss ideas and ways for the issue's political solution," according to Hong.
He said it is imperative to ease tension, narrow differences through talks, seek consensus, and push forward the political solution.
 
China slams Abe's territorial dispute Crimea analogy
A spokesman for China's Foreign Ministry hash slammed an analogy drawn by Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe between their territorial disputes and the situation in Crimea.
Hong Lei said Shinzo Abe hypocritically pledged to improve China-Japan relations while speaking ill of China in the international community, referring to Abe raising the two countries' territorial disputes during a discussion on Crimea at the G7 meeting in the Hague earlier this week.
The spokesman said Abe''s words again exposed his intention to confuse the public and defame China. However, this cannot deceive the international community.
Hong Lei accused Japan of "illegally stealing" China's Diaoyu Islands and "breaking the status quo of shelving disputes."
 
China welcomes ROK's return of soldiers' remains
Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei says South Korea's return to China of the remains of Chinese soldiers killed in the 1950-53 Korean War will strengthen friendly feelings of the two peoples towards each other.

China launches crackdown on fake journalists
Chinese press authorities have launched a new crackdown on illegal media and fake journalists.
The campaign, which will run until September, will focus on illegal online media and people who defraud or extort money by pretending to be journalists, according to a joint statement released on Friday.
In a previous campaign running from December last year to the end of February, authorities investigated 136 criminal cases involving fake journalists and confiscated over 1.3 million illegal newspapers and magazines.
 
China launches campaign against guns, explosives
