Officers deployed noisemakers and fired tear gas and flash grenades in Ferguson, Missouri in an effort to keep protesters moving and not congregating. They say some people on the crowd lobbed molotov cocktails. Police say at least 2 people were shot. Palestinian and Israeli negociators in Cairo resumed indirect talks trying to hammer out a roadmap for the war-torn Gaza Strip after Egypt annouced a 24-hour extension of the cease-fire to allow more time for negociations.
Chinese state media say rescuers are trying to reach 29 miners trapped in a coal mine after a gas explosion. 10 other miners managed to escape, one of whom was injuried.
And annoucer Don Pardo, whose booming baritone was known to fans as Saturday Night Live, has died. He was 96.
