"Years two through four were volatile,"Tim remembers."Any little thing could set us off,"Karen agreed. "When you're young,everything is about you."
When times were at their worst,Tim fell back on his training for a business degree. " I began to think about how tough i had it, how people i knew seemed to be getting along much better.Then i thought about what i'd been taught i some of my businesses and marketing courses-that we have a consumer mentality. Anything can be replaced if it stops meeting our needs. And I saw that people can do that to their relationships .I was doing that to my relationship-treating it as product and wondering if I couldn't trade it in for a better one. I was fee to put my energy into it, instead of putting my energy into wondering whether this was worth it."
