 The first Ebola patient diagnosed in the United States has died, this according to a spokesperson at the Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital. Officials there say Eric Duncan died Wednesday morning after fighting quote courageously against the disease. 

 
Several Syrian human rights groups are calling for international help to save a Kurdish town. They say Kobani is at risk of falling into the hands of the Islamic State group. The fighting has forced thousands to flee and seek shelter in neighboring Turkey. 
 
Evening viewers in most of Asia and early risers in parts of the Americas were treated to a lunar eclipse on Wednesday. Seeing here in Los Angeles, they watched as the moon turn shaved to red in what is known as a Blood Moon, the hue result from sunlight gathering off earth's atmosphere. 
 
And two Italian children received the right of their ride on the Popemobile. Pope Francis invited two blessed who attended his weekly audience at the Vatican to hitch a ride on the famous Popemobile. The boys thanked the pontiff with a kiss on both cheeks before heading back into the crowd.
