2. US-led airstrikes pounded the Islamic State group in Kobani today. The coalition intensified its aerial bombardment of female compositions in Syria. US officials say 5 airstrikes south of Kobani destroyed an Islamic State group's support building and damaged a training camp. 
 
 
 
3. Authorities say an off-duty St. Louis police officer shot and killed an 18-year-old with fire at him, setting up angry demonstrations in the area just two months after the death of Michael Brown. The officer was working for a private security company when he got into an altercation with the 18-year-old. His parents say he was unarmed. 
 
 
 
4. And a time capsule dating back to 1901 was uncovered from a statue atop a Boston building. Historians opened a small copper box, hidden in the head of the lion statue, and found a hard-cover book inside. President of the Bostonian Society said he was absolutely delighted by the discovery.
