　　"If an employee's health has been affected by dust, toxic substances and other harmful factors during occupational activities, those harms can be defined as occupational hazards," according to a temporary provision released recently by China's work safety watchdog.

　　中国劳动安全监管局最近发布的一项暂行规定中说：“如果员工的健康因工作中粉尘、有毒物质及其他有害因素受到影响，这些危害可以被定义为职业危害。”

　　在上面的报道中，occupational hazards 就是“职业危害”。职业危害是指从业人员在劳动过程中因接触有毒有害物品和遇到各种不安全因素而受到的有损于健康的危害。

　　在该词组中 hazard 的意思是“危害物、危险”。例如：a hazard to health（危及健康的因素）；Fog can be a hazard on the motorways in winter（冬季的大雾会在汽车道上制造险情）。Hazard 还可以解释为“机会、偶然的事”， 例如：The result depends on mere hazard（结果如何全碰运气）。另外，hazard 也可以作动词用，如 hazard a remark 是“斗胆进言”，hazard one's life 是“冒生命危险”。

　　工作中，长期遭受 occupational hazards 的员工一般都患有 occupationaldisease（职业病），这在 occupational health and safety（职业健康与安全）问题中是很常见的现象。此外，occupational injury（工伤）也是常见的职业安全问题之一。
