Members of the New York City communities are mourning the loss of two NYPD officers who were shot and killed on Saturday. The family of Eric Garner said they are saddened by the shooting carried out by Ismaaiyl Brinsley who claimed retaliation for Garner’s death. While Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams is calling for a pause on any protests until after the officers are laid to rest.

 

Florida authorities say a police officer was shot and killed in Tarpon Springs early Sunday. The shooting occurred at around 3 am in the Tampa Bay area and a suspect has been taken to custody. The officer was a 17-year veteran of the force.

 

US-led coalition air strikes onIslamic militants continued in Kobani. The air strikes came after Kurdish fighters advanced in 6 districts inthe town a day earlier. Kurdish forces have gradually pushed the extremists back in recent weeks. 

 

And talk about going out with a bang. Texas A&M University’s Kyle Field was imploded as part of a 450million dollar stadium improvement. The updated stadium will include new suites and premium areas for fans and will be completed by the 2015 football season.
