In Paris the Eiffel Tower went dark Thursday night honoring the victims of yesterday’s deadly attack on a satirical newspaper. Meanwhile French authorities are conducting a massive search for the two brothers suspected of carrying out the shooting, 12 people were killed.
 
Democratic Senator Barbara Boxer of California said she will not seek reelection in 2016 to a fifth term in office. The 74-year-old made the announcement in a video with her grandson. Boxer was first elected to the house in 1982.
 
Around the US, dangerously cold airs are sending temperatures down to the single digits. Wind chills are driving them even lower. In New York City temperatures are expected to drop to 7 degrees.
 
A kitten is safe after it was found in the hood of a car. Workers at a Lexus dealership in Texas rescued the kitten after they heard her meowing. Since then she’s found a new home with one of the car dealership employees.
