Several MPs have told ABC they would support a leadership spill at next Tuesday’s party meeting. The Education Minister Christopher Pyne says he supports the prime minister but means he isn’t sure if Mr. Abbott has the numbers to remain leader.

Former British Glam Rock Gary Glitter could spend the rest of his life in jail after being found guilty of child sex abuse dating back more than 40 years. The 70-year-old whose real name is Paul Gadd has been convicted of abusing three young girls between 1975 and 1980. 
 
The west has renewed its efforts to try to solve the fighting in eastern Ukraine. French President Fran ois Hollande and the German Chancellor Angela Merkel are in Ukrainian Capital Kiev to boost forward new peace plan. The US Secretary of State John Kerry has also been holding talks in Ukraine.
 
Fire crews appeared to have won their battle to save the West Australian town of North Cliff from a massive bushfire has been threatening now for several days. Residents may be able to finally return home later today. Two large bushfires are still burning out of control in that state’s southwest.
