1. A day of remembrance around the country. President Bush laid a wreath at the Pentagon for victims of the 9/11 attacks in the afternoon, and stood with first responders in New York in the morning.
2. Passengers aboard a United flight had to calm their nerves when the plane was diverted to Dallas. It was heading from Atlanta to San Francisco. The airline says an unclaimed hand-held computer was found on board/onboard. All 50 passengers had to get off and be rescreened before the flight could continue.
3. Police in the Bahamas say Anna Nicole Smith was in the hospital room with her son when he died on Sunday. 20-year-old Daniel Smith was in the Bahamas visiting his mother who gave birth to a little girl last week. No word on how Daniel Smith died.
4. Hurricane Florence has passed Bermuda, leaving behind blown-out windows and knocking out power. Strong winds and rain are expected to last for the next several hours. Forecasters expect Florence to lose strength as it heads northeast. It is not expected to hit the US, but it is causing high surf and strong rip currents along the Eastern Seaboard.
