Lesson 43 The strike is over It snowed heavily last Saturday. There was deep snow in the garden. Sandy and Sue got some spades from the shed in the garden. They wanted to clear the path. They both worked very hard. Sandy dug faster than Sue, but Sue worked more carefully. Soon the path was clear. Father smiled happily at the children. “You’ve worked very well,” he said. “You’ve worked very cheerfully. You’ve helped me very much.” “I’m glad that the strike is over. I’m going to give you some extra pocket-money, because you’ve both earned it! ”
