 Let’s take a look at the satellite image. A deep trough is generating rain and thunderstorms over southern parts of New South Wales and Victoria. It’s also causing showers and thunderstorms over the western central and northern Australia. 

 
Looking around the country for today, in Queensland, a cool day in the southwest with the chance of rain. Showers near the north tropical coast. 
 
In New South Wales, rain areas with the chance of a thunderstorm in the south and west of New South Wales. Mostly fine in the northeast. 
 
In Victoria, rain and possible thunderstorms over the east of the state. 
 
In Tasmania, showers about the west and north. Snowfalls lowering to about 900 meters about the southwest. 
 
Possible morning thunderstorms in the northeast of South Australia. Showers extending over the west coast during the afternoon. 
 
In WA, showers and thunderstorms along most of the west coast and the northern part of the state. The rain is moving towards southeast in the evening.
 
In the Top End, a slight to medium chance of showers and storms about the coast and northern districts. 
 
Looking ahead to tomorrow’s forecast for the capital cities, Brisbane, showers increasing. A shower or two in Sydney and Canberra. Melbourne, local hail and showers. Hobart, a shower or two clearing. Adelaide, partly cloudy. Sunny in Perth and possible storm in Darwin.
