 Leading our news this morning, Bali Nine ring leader Andrew Chan and his long-time girlfriend ahead of his gloomy execution. Chan and fellow Australian drug smuggler Myran Sukamaran could face the firing squad as early as tomorrow morning. The Foreign Minister has vowed to keep pushing for clemency. 

 
“I did send another letter to Foreign Minister Marty. I received response from her last night. It didn’t contain any information that will indicate change of you, but we will continue because both men have been rehabilitated.” Julie Bishop speaking earlier.
 
And Foreign Minister Julie Bishop says she fears more Australians may have died in Nepal’s devastating earthquake. Former Melbourne mother of two Renu Fotedar is now the first confirmed Australian casualty. The death toll has exceeded 4000 and hundreds of Australians are still missing.
 
The Child Care Sector has warned up to 100,000 families could have their benefits cut under a proposal being considered in next month federal budget. The government is looking at introducing an activity test which would cut child care benefits to parents who were less than 24 hours a fortnight.
 
In the United States, protestors have clashed with police in Baltimore after the funeral of a blackman who died in custody. Several policemen were injured when protesters pelted them with stones and bottles. Twenty-five-year-old Freddie Grey died of a severe spinal injuries after being detained by police earlier this month.
