 February 12th, 1809"Four score and seven years ago, our fathers brought forth on this Continent a new nation."President Abraham Lincoln, who led the divided United States through the Civil War, is born in present-day Kentucky. Lincoln who opposed slavery signed the Emancipation Proclamation and delivered the Gettysburg Address.

Also that same year, Charles Darwin, the naturalist to develop the theory of evolution by natural selection, is born in England.
1999In Washington, the Senate acquits President Bill Clinton of perjury and obstruction of justice charges over the Monica Lewinsky Scandal. "I want to say again to the American people, how profoundly sorry I am for what I said and did to trigger these events and the great burden they have imposed on the Congress and on the American people."1909The NAACP, one of the America's leading civil rights organizations to this day, is founded in New York City.
And 2000Charles Schulz, the cartoonist to create the Charlie Brown Snoopy and The West of the Peanuts Gang, dies in Santa Rosas, California. He was 77.
