1. No-account

　　英文中有个短语是of no account，意思是“无足轻重”、“没价值”，比如：His opinions were of no account to the others.(他的意见对别人没什么用。)而no-account这个词则指“不中用的人”。

　　例：I don't trust her or her lazy, no-account husband.

　　我不相信她，也不相信她那个又懒又没用的老公。

　　2. Dud

　　本该有的功能效用没发挥出来，有些东东最终变成了“废物”。Dud原意指“哑弹”，现在指“无用的东西”，“失败的人或事情”。

　　例：I spent a lot of money on a new mp3 player, but it turned out to be a dud. I couldn't eventurn it on.

　　我花了很多钱买了一个新的mp3播放器，结果发现是个坏的，连开机都开不了。

　　3. Good-for-nothing

　　没一件事情能办好，感觉整个人都没有亮点，英文可用good-for-nothing表示“没用”、“一无是处”。

　　例：Where's that good-for-nothing son of yours?

　　你那个没用的儿子在哪儿呢?

　　4. Milksop

　　与其说人没本事，不中用，倒不如归结于性格上的懦弱，milksop指的是“软弱的人”。

　　例：Don't be such a milksop!

　　别那么没用!

　　5. Lame duck

　　美国人管即将卸任的官员叫lame duck。除此之外，这一摇三晃的瘸腿鸭，还可以指“失败的人”、“没用的人”。

　　例：The government should not spend money on helping lame ducks.

　　政府不该把钱花在那些没用的人身上。
