The Federal Government now has an election winning lead in the latest opinion polls a week after elevating Malcolm Turnbull to the position of prime minister. News poll published in the Australian newspaper has the Coalition ahead of Labor after preferences 51% to 49%. Mr. Turnbull’s approval rating is the highest for any prime minister since Julie Gillard was installed as Labor leader back in July, 2010. A man remains under police guard in hospital, following the discovery of a woman’s body in Western Sydney. Police say emergency services found the woman in her 30s at a home in Mount. Druitt after mid-night. A 38-year-old man turned himself into police a short time later.

And still in Sydney, police are continuing to investigate the death of a 29-year-old mother and her 17-month-old baby. Their bodies was found in Campsie in the city’s western suburbs yesterday.
