FBI director James Comey says Syed Farook and Tashfeen Malik, the two San Bernardino shooters, were radicalized as early as 2013. He described them as home-grown extremists to lawmakers on Capitol Hill, and saids they discussed jihad as well as martyrdom.
Protesters are taking to the streets in Chicago demanding the resignation of mayor Rahm Emanuel. Emanuel apologized for the killing of a black teenager who was shot 16 times by a white police officer. And he called for total reform of the city's police department.
The Senate has given overwhelming approval to an education bill that would give power back ro the states over student testing and school accountability. The legislation is headed to president Obama's desk where he's expected to sign it.
Time magzine has named Germany Chancellor Angela Merkelas as its person of the year. The magzine praised Merkel for everying from her handling of Syrian refugees to the Greek debt crisis.
