38 “I Don’t Have to Eat All the Egg.”
A lady once wrote a long story. She sent it to a famous editor. After a fewweeks the story was returned to her. The lady was angry. She wrote to theeditor:
"Dear Sir: Yesterday you sent back a story of mine. How do you know that thestory is not good? You did not read it. Before I sent you the story, I pastedtogether pages 18, 19 and 20. This was a test to see whether you would readthe story. When the story came back yesterday, the pages were still pastedtogether. Is this the way you read all the stories that are sent to you?"Theeditor wrote back: "Dear Madam: At breakfast when I open an egg I don't haveto eat all the egg to discover that it is bad.?
