-- Russian media Sputnik has a report that China has entered a key period in building the nation into a well-off society. Sputnik reports that the effort will extend benefits to all of China's 1.3 billion citizens and will be a landmark achievement in Chinese history.

-- German newspaper Neue Deutsche Zeitung reports that the slowdown of the Chinese economy signals that China is transforming from a quantity-oriented development model to one that is quality oriented. The newspaper says that transformation will bring fundamental changes to the lives of all Chinese residents. 

--Japanese newspaper Nihon Keizai Shimbun says poverty alleviation is among China's major tasks. The newspaper says China will focus more on dealing with the wealth gap between the wealthy coastal provinces and the inland regions where economic development lags. 

--US magazine Foreign Policy says China must encourage new engines of growth, secure the country’s rise into the ranks of advanced economies and avoid the risk of stagnating in the middle-income trap.
