Former British Prime Minister David Cameron has resigned as a Conservative Member of Parliament two months after he quit as prime minister in the wake of the June Brexit referendum. 英国前首相戴维·卡梅伦辞去了保守党国会议员的职务。两个月前，他在该国6月举行脱欧公投后辞去了首相一职。
Cameron, 49, said he did not want to be a "distraction" for new Prime Minister Theresa May.

He said that he thought about the decision long and hard and it isn't really possible to be a proper backbench MP as a former prime minister.

He said he had not made any "firm decisions" on what to do next, but he wanted to continue to contribute to public life.

Cameron, has earlier said he would continue as an MP until the next general election.
