IMF新加坡年会(1)(在线收听) |
Tensions mounted in Singapore as members of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank gathered for their annual meeting. Representatives of about 500 Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) were given credentials to attend, but the Singapore government banned at least 27 of their representatives from entering the country. After more than 80 NGOs, including Greenpeace and Oxfam, announced plans to boycott the official meetings in protest, as well as a protest by World Bank president Paul Wolfowitz, Singapore officials agreed to let 22 of the 27 attend. An important agenda item of the meeting will be the revision of IMF and World Bank policies to tie aid to developing countries to reduced corruption in those countries. |
