This is AP news minute. 1. President Donald Trump's speech Friday to the leading conservative group is like a series of greatest hits from his campaign rallies. He reminisced about his victory in the republican primaries. He vowed to "build the wall" along the Mexican border. He also denounced Hillary Clinton's characterisation of some of the supporters as a basket of deplorables, while appealing in the conservative political action conference. 2. The head of the National Rifle Association says conservatives should stand up for themselves, if the violent left brings their terror into our communities. Wayne LaPierre also spoke Friday at CPAC(Conservative Political Action Conference), he asked the crowd if they were already to take on the left. 3. A fire swept through a hotel in Vineland, New Jersey, and a police officer is one of the two people injured in the overnight blaze. The fire chief says the guests were hanging from the second floor windows, and throwing their belongings out the window when the firefighters arrived. 4. And a century-old power plant along the Lake Erie in Cleveland has been demolished with 2a 00-pound explosive. The 306-foot smokestack in the boiler building of FirstEnergy's Lake Shore Power Plant were toppled early Friday using strategic blasts. I'm Matt Friedman, the Associated Press with AP News Minute. |
