2016年CRI Digital Media Artist Tian Xiaolei's Solo Exhibition Underway in Today Art Museum(在线收听) |
Tian Xiaolei, a young artist who has recently won the "Wang Shikuo Award" opened his solo exhibition in Today Art Museum in Beijing, putting some of his recent computer-animated films on display. The artist appeared at the opening ceremony of his exhibition, titled Waiting for You------Infinite Time and Space. He took joy in explaining one of his exhibits "The poem", which is an around 7-minute long video he produced in 2014. "The film is organized like a string of beads and each bead, which represents a different space, would form a new space along with another bead when they both gradually go up and enter each other. Its structure in prose speaks out my wild imagination about us humans transforming into mechanized beings. This is best exemplified by a belief that mobile phones are now widely recognized as the new external human organ." Art critics comment that Tian Xiaolei's solo show represents not only a visual celebration from the new perspectives of the contemporary digital artists, but also suggests the unknown possibilities for the digital art development. Tian Xiaolei graduated from the Digital Media Department of the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing in 2007. His major achievements in recent years include a solo exhibition named "Song of Joy" in the Meulensteen Gallery in New York in 2012. His ongoing solo exhibition in the Today Art Museum is arranged following the artist winning the "Wang Shikuo Award", earlier this month, an award, named after Wang Shikuoa, a great master of 20th-Century Chinese art. It is scheduled to close on June 11th. |
