President Trump heads to Canada on Friday for a meeting of the Group of Seven Industrialized Nations. Contentious discussions are expected after the President recently imposed tariffs on Canada, Mexico and the EU.

A woman left federal prison in Alabama after President Trump commuted her life sentence. Alice Johnson was convicted of drug charges. She thanked the President and reality TV star Kim Kardashian, who had taken up her cause.

The US evacuated several more government workers out of southern China. The State Department says they might have the same unexplained health incidents as US personnel in Cuba.

Officials on Hawaii's Big Island say a neighbourhood called Vacationland has almost completely disappeared beneath lava. The US geological survey says only a few homes are left in a second nearby subdivision.
