Dialogue 1 Jingjing: Hey, Mark, did you get your report done for school? Hey! Mark! Yoo hoo! Can you hear me?
Mark: Oh, hey, Jingjing. Sorry, did you say something? I had my headphones on. I was just jamming to some music.
Jingjing: Yeah, I can see that. I asked you if you got your report done.
Mark: The report? Oh that ...No I haven't started it yet.
Jingjing: I don't know why I keep bugging you about it. I've told you several times but it's like water off a duck's back. Anyways, what genre of music do you listen to?
Mark: I listen to all kinds of music, but lately I've been listening to a lot of oldies.
Jingjing: Really? I love oldies! What era do you like?
Mark: Well, I like music from the 60's, like The Beach Boys. They were formed in 1961 and are responsible for the surf craze.
Jingjing: Yeah, they are a great band to listen to, especially during the summer. I personally am a fan of The Monkees. They were formed a few years later in 1965. Did you know that they invented the television music video?
Mark: I love The Monkees. My favorite song of theirs is "I'm a believer".
Jingjing: Oh my! Look at the time! I better make like a bat out of hell and get back to the office! I have a meeting in 10 minutes!
Mark: Okay, we'll catch up later!

Dialogue 2
Jingjing: Finally! I've been trying to get in touch with you the whole day. I called you five times today but you didn't answer. What were you doing?
Mark: Sorry! I was hanging out with Steve and Bill. I'm just trying to be a good friend to them too and spend time with them.
Jingjing: What? I thought I was your best friend. You know what they say: a friend to all is a friend to none. If you try to please everyone, then no one will feel special.
Mark: Hey, come on sis, you know you're still my best friend! Anyways, what's going on?
Jingjing: Not much. I've been on an oldies binge ever since we talked last. I can't get enough of Stevie Wonder.
Mark: Ohhh! I love Stevie Wonder. Did you know he was blind?
Jingjing: Yeah, he was a blind child prodigy that completely transformed Jazz and Funk music. Hey, did you know he was from Motown?Isn't that where you're from?
Mark: It sure is! Knowing that we are from the same city makes me proud as a peacock.
Jingjing: The 60's was a great era, but I think the 70's were even better! One of my favorite artists, Jim Croce, was from that time period.
Mark: Yes! He's also one of my favorites. Two of his songs topped the charts in 1973: "Bad, bad Leroy Brown" and "Time in a bottle".
他的两首歌曲都荣登了1973年排行榜的榜首:“Bad, bad Leroy Brown”和“Time in a bottle”。
Jingjing: Hey, that reminds me, what time is it?
Mark: It's ten minutes to three, why? Do you have to go somewhere?
