IMF director Christine Lagarde has warned that the Trump administration's trade policies are likely to hurt the US economy and undermine the world's trade system.Lagarde says a trade war will lead to "losers on both sides" and have a "serious" impact.The comments come amid the US levying tariffs on several of the world's major economies, drawing retaliatory measures.It has also come after this year's G7 meeting, with President Trump retracting his endorsement of the joint statement and lashing out at host Canada.Lagarde says these measures are likely to move the world further away from an open, fair and rules-based trade system.Global economic and strategic new order has been discussed for decades. It seems more relevant today after what happened at this year's G7 summit and amid all the trade conflicts between the US and other major economies. In this episode, we will examine whether the change is for real this time, its domestic and global aspects and possible alternatives.
