 本期内容:

Japan’s Supreme Court upheld a 19th-century law under which married couples must have the same legal surname. Women almost always take their husband’s names as a result—breaching constitutional guarantees of sexual equality, campaigners argued. The court said parliament should decide on new legislation. But it did strike down a law which prevents women remarrying within six months of divorce.

词义解析:

Uphold: 维持……的判决

Breach:违反

Constitutional: 宪法的
