Television has made it possible for many of you to see me in your homes on Christmas Day. 电视让你们许多人可以在圣诞节这天在家中看到我。

My own family often gather round to watch television as they are at this moment. 我自己的家人也常聚在一起看电视，他们此刻也正在看着。

And that is how I imagine you now. 而那就是我脑海中你们现在在家中的模样。

Six decades on, the presenter has evolved somewhat, as has the technology she described. 六十年过去，主持人稍微不一样了，她口中的科技也是。

Back then, who could have imagined that people would one day be watching this on laptops and mobile phones as some of you are today? 在当时，谁能想象到人们有天会像你们今天这样用笔电和手机看我说话？

I described that hospital visit as a privilegebecause the patients I met were an example to us all,  我形容那趟医院探望之旅是种荣幸，因为我见到的伤者是我们所有人的楷模，

showing extraordinary bravery and resilience. 展现出无比的勇气与韧性。

Indeed, many of those who survived the attack came together just days later for a benefit concert. 许多在那场攻击中活下来的人，甚至几天后就聚在一起参加一场公益演唱会。

It was a powerful reclaiming of the ground and of the city those young people call home. 那是个影响深远的活动，表示我们重拾土地，重拾那群年轻人们称为家的城市。

We expect our homes to be a place of safety—sanctuary, even— 我们期望我们的家是一个安全的地方－－甚至是个避风港－－

which makes it all the more shocking when the comfort they provide is shattered. 因此当家所提供的安适被破坏时，格外令人震惊。

A few weeks ago, the Prince of Wales visited the Caribbean in the aftermath of hurricanes that destroyed entire communities. 几星期前，威尔斯亲王到加勒比海拜访，飓风前阵子摧毁了整个社区。

And here in London, who can forget the sheer awfulness of the Grenfell Tower fire? 而在伦敦，谁能忘记格兰菲塔火灾的可怕？

In 2018, I will open my home to a different type of family, the leaders of the 52 nations of the Commonwealth, 2018年，我将为另一种家人敞开大门，也就是大英国协五十二个国家的领袖，

The Commonwealth has an inspiring way of bringing people together, be it through the Commonwealth Games, 大英国协有种激励人心的方式让人团聚在一起，无论是透过几个月后在澳洲黄金海岸举办的大英国协运动会，

which begin in a few months' time on Australia's Gold Coast, or through bodies like the Commonwealth Youth Orchestra and Choir— 还是透过像英联邦青年管乐团和合唱团这样的团体－－

a reminder of how truly vibrant this international family is. 都让我们记得这个国际大家庭是多么生气蓬勃。

Today, we celebrate Christmas, which itself is sometimes described as a festival of the home. 今天，我们一同庆祝圣诞节，这个节日本身有时会被称作“属于家的节日”。

Families travel long distances to be together. 家人们千里迢迢返家团圆。

Volunteers and charities, as well as many churches, arrange meals for the homeless and those who would otherwise be alone on Christmas Day.  志工、慈善团体，还有许多教堂，他们替无家可归和那些本来在圣诞节会孤单度过的人们准备大餐。

We remember the birth of Jesus Christ, whose only sanctuary was a stable in Bethlehem. 我们记得耶稣的降生，他仅有的庇护所只是在伯利恒的一座马厩。

He knew rejection, hardship, and persecution. 他体会过排挤、困顿和迫害。

And yet it is Jesus Christ's generous love and example which has inspired me through good times and bad. 然而正是耶稣基督慷慨的爱和典范，在生命的顺境和低谷中启发着我。
