在描述牛奶大小时，除了big和small，我们加上表示容积的单位，就更加清楚喽：

If you go to an American grocery store, you'll notice that there are a ton of different sizes of milk to choose from.
如果去美国的超市，你会发现牛奶种类多到挑花眼。
Milk is sold in gallons, 1/2 gallons, quarts, and cartons.
牛奶有加仑，1/2加仑，夸脱和盒。
Gallon
加仑
The largest amount of milk you can buy is a gallon jug.
能买到最大瓶的牛奶是一加仑的大桶。
The whole amount of a jug of milk is 128 ounces! This is about 4 litres. Buying a gallon of milk is best if you have a bunch of people drinking it.
一加仑的大桶有128盎司，大概有4升（8斤）。如果喝的人多的话一加仑是最划算的。
1/2 gallon
1/2加仑
That's right! You guessed it! A half gallon of milk has 64 ounces or 2 litres of milk in it.

This size is best for maybe one or two people.
大概一到两个人喝最好。
Quart/Litre
夸脱/升
A quart of milk equals a quarter of a gallon. So, with this in mind, a quart of milk would be 1/4th the size of a gallon, so 32 ounces! This is also about the same size as a litre of milk or 2 斤。
一夸脱牛奶=1/4加仑。32盎司！跟1升或2斤牛奶差不多大。
Carton
盒
There are also cartons of milk. This basically means that the milk is in a paper box or cardboard.
售卖的也有盒装的牛奶。基本上是说牛奶装在一个硬纸盒。
Cartons of milk can come in a lot of different sizes, but usually it's for smaller amounts of milk.
盒装的牛奶也有不一样的尺寸，但通常都是比较少量的牛奶。
For example, cartons of milk can come in quarts (which 1 L), half of a quart (which is 500 mL), and 1/4th of a quart (which is 250 mL).
比如盒装牛奶有1夸脱的（1升），半夸脱（500毫升）和1/4夸脱（250毫升）
The smallest carton size comes in 4 ounces, or about 1/10th of a litre. This is the best if you just want to drink milk with one meal.
最小的盒装牛奶是4盎司的，大概是100毫升。如果你只是吃饭时想喝的话最合适了。
I heard even in England they are using the metric system with litres and kilograms. We are probably the last country who is using the imperial system with quarts and gallons.
