South Bend, Indiana mayor Pete Buttigieg has announced that he is running for president. He joins a crowded Democratic field and says the country needs a new generation of leadership.

Secretary of State Mike Pumpeo has met with Venezuelans who has fled to neighbouring Colombia to escape their country's crisis. He visited 4 Latin American countries while putting pressure on Venezuelan President Nicholas Maduro.

And a suspected tornado struck a rural Ohio town, sending at least half a dozen people to hospitals. This follows severe weather and tornadoes in states including Texas and Mississippi.
