White House acting chief of staff Mick Mulvaney no longer plans to sue over House impeachment proceedings, saying in a court filing Tuesday that instead he will follow president Trump's guidance and decline to cooperate. Mlvaney was subpoenaed to appear at a closed-door House impeachment meeting last week but did not show up. Ousted Bolivian President Evo Morales arrived in Mexico Tuesday, where the Mexican government has offered him political asylum. Morales resigned Sunday following weeks of protests over election fraud allegations. He thanked Mexican officials for “saving my life." Former president Jimmy Carter is recovering following brain surgery to relieve pressure from bleeding linked to recent falls. A spokesperson said there were no complications but Carter, who is 95, will remain at the hospital for observation. Cuban president Miguel Diaz Canel and his wife Lis Cuesta Peraza welcomed King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain in Havana Tuesday, where the couple will tour historic sites as the city gears to celebrate its 500th anniversary. Felipe and Letizia are the first Spanish royals to make a state visit to the island. |
