The former foreign minister, Boris Johnson, is the front runner to succeed Mrs May. Opposition leader Jeremy Corbyn has restated his call for new elections following the departure of the Conservative party leader.

Police have confirmed they are treating the death of a woman, whose body was discovered in Melbourne's inner-north, as suspicious. The woman, who is yet to be identified, was found in a park this morning. The cause of her death is not yet known.
