2. Las Vegas officials are still trying to figure out what caused a rooftop fire at the Monte Carlo Hotel & Casino. Authorities say they are not sure when the 3000-room hotel will reopen. Officials say security escorted most guests inside overnight to retrieve items they had left behind.

3. An American aid worker had been kidnapped by gunmen in southern Afghanistan. The 49-year-old woman was teaching English and embroidery at a nearby girls' school. She was wearing a burqa when she was taken. Her driver is also missing.

4. German born polar bear cub Flocke, or Snowflake in English, is learning to crawl. Zoo officials say the almost five-week-old cub is in 'excellent condition'. Flocke was taken into care two weeks ago after keepers became concerned her mother was not able to raise her.
