When businessman Zong Yi took delivery of his Model S in Beijing this spring, he faced a simple problem: how to drive it home from the dealership, when charging stations were essentially absent outside Beijing and Shanghai. Zong's solution? He bought 20 chargers from Tesla and gave them away to hotels along his route that responded to a social media plea for parking spaces and power outlets. Every charge required an overnight stay, so the journey took more than two weeks—but Zong says the publicity along the way probably sold another 150 cars.

今年春天，商人宗毅在北京买到自己的S型特斯拉后，他面临着一个简单问题：那就是如何把车从北京开回家，目前只有北京和上海有充电站。宗的解决办法是？他在特斯拉购买了20个充电桩，并将充电桩捐赠给了沿途旅店，这些旅店都能够接收到社交媒体的求助，并能够帮助车主提供停车和充电服务。每次充电都需要留宿，所以总行程超过了两周的时间，但是宗毅认为沿途所带来的广告宣传效益或许还能卖150辆汽车。

Separately, Premier Li Keqiang announced on July 9 that buyers of new-energy vehicles will be exempt from the so-called "purchase tax" starting in September, a move that amounts to an 8.5 percent discount for both electric cars and plug-in hybrids.
