Carl: Thank you, Rob.

Rob: Carl, you're a police officer. But you are not wearing a uniform.

Carl: That's right, Rob. I am not on patrol today.

卡尔：是的，罗布。我今天不用外出巡警。

Rob: I see. Well, what does a police officer do on patrol?

罗布：我知道了。那警察巡警都会做什么？

Carl: Well, we stop crimes and we help people.

卡尔：嗯，我们会停止犯罪行为，帮助他人。

Rob: That's not an easy job.

罗布：这可不是个轻松的工作。

Carl: I am a traffic cop. I patrol the roads and keep the streets safe.

Rob: That's important. Do you give tickets?

Carl: Yes, I do. Some people drive too fast. That isn't safe.

Rob: No, it's not.

Carl: And some people drive and talk on their cellphones. I give them tickets, too.

卡尔：还有些人一边驾驶一遍打电话。我也会开罚单。

Rob: Good! That really isn't safe!

卡尔：太好了！这很不安全！
