81. Looks like I'm gonna have to buy a winter suit, too.

看来我也得去买一套冬季西装.

suit /sju:t/ 是"(上下成套的)西装",而suite /swi:t/ 是饭店的"套房",

请注意拼写及发音的差异. 如果说 in one's birthday suit 则是指"裸体"的意思.

82. God, we look like sheep---we're all carrying the same folders.

天啊!我们都带着同样的文件夹,看起来一模一样.

sheep 是"绵羊",单复数同,此处指"模仿别人着,盲从者",

含有轻蔑的意思. They are all sheep, looking just alike.

是说(他们这群人相互模仿,看起来一模一样).

83. I'd like to stay away from jobs that are demanding, dirty, or dangerous.

我想避开劳累,污秽或危险的工作.

stay away from ...是"离开...". 英语中所谈到的"工作上的三D"是指

demanding "苛求的;劳累的", dirty "污秽的,肮脏的", dangerous

"危险的". 相反的, Can you imagine an easy, clean and safe job?

则是(你能想象安逸,干净而安全的工作吗?)

84. That guy checks out every lead he lays his hands on.

那老兄只要一得到消息,就去应聘.

此处的 lead 是"线索". lay one's hands on 则是"抓住,得到,找出"等意.

Does it increase job chances in any way? 是(那样会增加就业的机会吗?)之意.

85. Shoot! I forgot to take off my nail polish.

糟糕!我忘了擦掉指甲油.

take off (=remove) 是"除去". nail polish (=manicure)是"指甲油",

而脚趾则涂 pedicure "脚指甲油".(她那样涂着红指甲油,大概不会被录取的)是说

She won't be employed, with that red nail polish.
