Helen: Today’s new word is 'stakeholder' – S.T.A.K.E.H.O.L.D.E.R. – stakeholder. Zoë: Stakeholder. 是什么意思呢? Helen: Well, it's a little complicated, so listen carefully. A stakeholder is a person who owns part of a business. Zoë: stakeholder 就是一个公司的股东,它持有这个公司的一部分股票。给我们来举个具体的例子吧,Helen.

B: That's Derek. He's a major stakeholder in my company. He invested a lot of money in the business when I first started. Zoë: Are you a stakeholder in any businesses, Helen? Helen: No. I spend all my money too quickly to become a stakeholder! Zoë: But do you think it's a good idea to be a stakeholder? Helen: Yes. As long as the business you invest in is successful. Zoë: Why is that? Helen: Well, any stakeholders would lose their money if a business fails. Zoë: I suppose so. Helen: Well, being a stakeholder is a risk.
