1.President-elect Barack Obama would observe Martin Luther King Day by working on volunteer service projects. Following a day of service, the president-elect will attend three tribute dinners, including a bipartisan dinner in honor of Senator John McCain.

2.Most of the US Airways jetliner that made a splash landing at the Hudson River is now sitting on a barge in a New Jersey marina, giving investigators a chance to get a closer look at the damage. Most of the plane remains intact except for its left engine. The research for that will resume tomorrow.

3.The British government has unveiled a second bailout plan for its ailing banks. It's aimed at protecting them from bad assets in an effort to boost lending. The first bailout worth about 55 billion dollars has not spurred enough lending. It is unclear how much this new plan will cost.

4.The matchup is now set for Super Bowl XLIII(43). The Pittsburgh Steelers will play the Arizona Cardinals on February 1st in Tampa. Arizona will be playing in its first Super Bowl while the Steelers will be trying to become the first NFL franchise to win six Super Bowls.
