1. Investigators near Buffalo are gathering up pieces of the commuter plane that crashed into a home during icy conditions late Thursday. All 49 people aboard were killed along with a person on the ground.

2. President Barack Obama is calling his newly passed 787-billion-dollar stimulus bill "a major milestone in turning the US economy around". But he says it's only the beginning of getting the economy on track. In his weekly radio address, Obama said more work lies ahead.

3. Surviving residents are being allowed back in one Australian town just a week after it was hit by one of the country's deadly wildfires. It was one of about 400 blazes, some of which are being blamed on arson. At least 181 people have died in the fires with one suspect charged so far.
