Hello, I'm Melissa Long at the CNN Center in Atlanta on this Tuesday.

It is Nov. 11th, Veterans Day. And there are tributes across the America today for those who have served. President Bush spoke at the USS Intrepid Museum in New York for Veterans Day. The president is there helping to rededicate the aircraft carrier. It recently returned to its berth after getting a major overhaul.

President-elect Barack Obama is also honoring the country's fallen soldiers. He laid a wreath in Chicago earlier today. Mr. Obama released a statement saying in part, "Let us rededicate ourselves to keep a sacred trust with all who have worn the uniform of the United States of America. "

Major movement in the business sector today, Citigroup says it's going to put a 6-month halt on most home foreclosures. The company says it will try to work out new deals with those in financial trouble. American Express says it's becoming a bank, and it's got the okay from the Federal Reserve. The Fed says it made the decision using emergency powers. American Express will now have a greater ability to tap into the Federal bailout funds. Last month, the company laid off 10% of its global work force.

A sudden end to the expensive Mars lander mission. A dust storm in the beginning of the Martian winter has brought about that end. NASA lost contact with the lander last week, and, they aren't expected to be reconnecting again. It was thought the lander wouldn't last through the winter. The Phoenix landed on Mars May 25th.

Authorities in Taiwan have detained the former president after 5 hours of questioning from prosecutors. Chen Shui Bian is being investigated on money laundering and corruption charges. Chen has denied wrongdoing. The former president shouted "long live Taiwanese democracy "As he was being led away.
