3. A pilots' group says turbulence from another plane may have caused this Turkish Airlines plane to crash, killing nine people and injuring scores more. The Boeing 737 went down just short of the runway at Amsterdam's airport.

4. Found in Peru, this 10-million-year-old fossil, a skull belonging to a giant marine bird with a wingspan of 20 feet. The bony-toothed bird went extinct some three million years ago.
