1.Helicopters dropped water overnight in a wildfire raging in Southern California in the foothills above Santa Barbara. 1,200 homes have been evacuated, no structures have been lost so far, but flames are within a half mile of some neighborhoods.

2.Health officials say a swine flu vaccine could come soon. Testifying before Congress, the officials say they have moved quickly to identify the genetic characteristics of the virus and are in a good position to produce a vaccine if one is needed.

3.It's likely Afghanistan's president will bring up civilian casualties when he meets with President Barack Obama Wednesday. Afghani officials say US-ordered air strikes this week killed dozens of civilians. Pakistan’s president will also take part in talks at the White House.

4.This baby donkey named JB was just hours old when investigators say his mother was shot and killed. He has a new family now. His foster mom nurses him with the bottle. She also lets him sleep right next to her on a pallet in the hallway of her home.
