NBC confirms it the Jay Leno prime-time experiment is over. NBC Universal TV Entertainment Chief Jeff Gaspin says Leno's 10 p.m. show will end February 12th. at the start of the Winter Olympics. Gaspin says he wants Leno to return to his old 11:35 p.m. spot and have Conan O'Brien and Jimmy Fallon shifted back a half-hour. He says it’s not a done deal yet, but he hopes to have NBC's late-night lineup set by the beginning of the Olympics. Gaspin says NBC decided to move Leno when affiliates started talking about dropping the nightly prime-time show. Affiliates were upset the show is leading fewer viewers into their late news programs. Asked whether O'Brien and/or Fallon were angry at the idea, Gaspin said both men were professional and understanding when they talked. Beyond that, he said, it was a private conversation |
