1. The Fed is keeping interest rates at a record low, and promising to leave them there for an extended period. It says it hopes keeping the key rate where it is should help nurture the economic recovery and lower high unemployment.

 2. Toyota drivers and dealers are both worried about what to do, now that the automaker has recalled millions of vehicles and stopped sales on some of its most popular brands. One dealer says the edict will affect about 60% of the vehicles on his lot.

 3. The UN says it's boosting security at its food distribution sites in Haiti's capital. Crowds of unruly people have been jostling for aid at the sites. And there are fears that could lead to further violence there.

4. It's the newest “must-have” gadget. Apple today unveiled the iPad. The $499 gizmo is a tablet computer that combined the power and usability of an iPhone and a laptop.
