2. President Barack Obama is taking aim at the nation's school dropout epidemic. He is suggesting that $900 million be given to states and school districts that agree to make drastic changes in their worst performing schools or even shut those schools down.
3. Authorities are widening a search for a 17-year-old girl missing in San Diego County. Thirty-year-old registered sex offender John Gardner was booked yesterday for investigation of first-degree murder and rape. Chelsea King was last seen Thursday.
4. And an Ohio officer is lucky to be alive after a car slid in slip conditions and hit him. The officer lost consciousness for four minutes and woke at a hospital with multiple fractures. The 22-year-old veteran is expected to pull through.
