Japan is now dealing¹ with the on-going fallout from Prime Minister Shinzo Abe's visit to the war-linked Yasukuni shrine² last month. With the US having already expressed its disappointment, Japanese diplomats³ are busy attempting to soothe⁴ ties with Washington.

Abe’s younger brother, and the country’s senior Vice-Foreign Minister Nobuo Kishi will visit the US for five days beginning Monday. He is scheduled to meet US government officials and experts, and convey to them Abe’s purported⁵ intention.

And on Friday, the chief of Japan’s newly established National Security Council Shotaro Yachi will also pay a visit to Washington. According to Japanese media, he will meet with US Secretary of State John Kerry, and account for Abe’s actions.
